With each live-action Star Wars series, stories are tasked with venturing into new territory, while also connecting these narratives to more established corners of the franchise, with the director of the upcoming film Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi Deborah Chow recently indicated that fans can expect a mix of both new and old characters to take on the Jedi Master. While the audience knows Darth Vader will fall through the adventure, with Hayden Christensen reprising the role, the majority of other announced stars have been confirmed to play characters the audience hasn’t seen before, leaving us guessing what other characters from Kenobi might be. Zhao shared with him, “Obi-Wan is going on a trip.” movie totalfor every GamesRadar. “There are going to be different people who will come into his life. One of the things I’ve been trying to do with this series is get the legacy, it’s important in Obi-Wan’s life, and also get some new characters. So it’s going to be a mixture of the two. But I think there’s Some surprises to come. I hope.”
Given that fans already know Vader will appear in the series, and arguably the audience that would like the reunion to happen, viewers are left to speculate about what other characters from Kenobi’s past might reveal. Having appeared in only one movie, Liam Neeson’s Qui-Gon Jinn appearance will certainly be met with excitement from fans, but the actor himself has previously indicated that he would be more interested in returning to the big screen than a small screen cameo.
“Oh, I think so, yeah, yeah, yeah, I think so…if it’s a movie. Yeah, I’m a little arrogant when it comes to TV, I have to admit, I just love a screen, you know?” Neeson confirmed with ComicBook.com about a possible return. “Qui-Gon, I can’t believe it’s been 24 years since we made [Star Wars:] phantom dangerI can’t believe where the time has gone. It was a great experience, shooting this movie in London.”
One thing audiences shouldn’t expect from this new series, however, is an open epilogue, with Zhao confirming that it’s approached as a complete journey rather than the first story in a longer adventure.
“We really envisioned this as a beginning, middle and end,” said the director. “It’s one big story, and it was always meant to be. You can never tell what’s going to happen in the future. But, if another series happens, it’s the same process of making sure there’s a true story being told. Obviously our stories are very connected to the competitions, but I love The idea that there could be more stories scattered throughout the timeline.”
